The Latest with The Lil Lowes

Well... We've got good news and bad news-- We'll start with the good!!! :D Tonight our lil family went to Downtown Salt Lake to look at the BEAUTIFUL Temple Square Lights. It was fun even though it was pretty chilly and moving a stroller round there was let's just say...wayyyyyy tricky because it was so dang busy!!! Here are some pics from our fun night :D

Kensi and Bri at the end of our lil adventure. After Temple Square we went to Chili's and just chowed down on yummy food. This fun lil night out was EXACTLY what our lil family needed.
Which brings me to our bad news. Our cute lil Kensi has to get hip surgery on February 8th. I won't post alot about it because right now it is the cause of many many tears and whenever I think about it I bawl like a baby. Anyways she has hip dyspacia(sp?) which basically means her hip--her left one to be exact--didn't develop right and the hip bone is out of place. So she's gotta get this surgery to get her hip bone on the hip socket so she doesn't have problems walking when she's older or early hip arthritis. She'll be just fine after surgery and her hips will be as good as new and she won't have any problems after other than she's more likely to have to get another hip surgery when she's old. The biggest downfall is she has to get a Hip Spica Cast... basically it's this huge cast that goes from her waist down to a lil past her knees. She has to wear this for 3 months after surgery... but don't worry our lil cutie will make plaster look GOOOOOOOOOD :D Keep our lil family in our lil prayers and we'll keep ya posted on Kensi's lil hip :D Toodles for now... Kensi is four months tomorrow.. well today... so later on I'll post some pics!!!

  1. Kelsey....I just read this post...I didn't know Kensi had to have surgery:( I am so sorry. I don't know if Brian told you, but two of my mom's sisters had hip dispasia (JoEllen and Brenda). They had surgery I think when they were pre-school age and had to have casts on for a long time too. Also, my cousin Brooke (Jana Fuller's youngest daughter) has hip dysplasia. She just had surgery for it last summer and was in a cast for a long time and had some metal parts taken out this summer that they had put in before that. My mom told me it is genetic so Brian must have passed down the genetics. (I was actually wondering if Mallory had it because her feet turn in alot, but the doctor says she doesn't. How did you find out Kensi had it? It's good you found out when she is so young as I'm sure her bones are more moldable and still developing. You guys and Kensi will be in our prayers for sure.

  2. Hey Julie!!! Your cute lil mom and dad just told us about your aunts and cute lil cousin the other day :D We found out just because when Kensi was born she had a clubbed foot(she got that from me ha I had one when I was born)and our Dr. said alot of times with that they will have a lil hip problem too. We went in for an ultrasound right when she was born and it looked good but we went in for a cold and they noticed one leg was longer than the other...which are signs of a hip problem so they sent us to Primary Children's. They took 3 x-rays and figured out she had hip dysplacia on her left hip. So just alot of cautionary stuff-- I'm glad we have the Pediatrician we do-- he doesn't mess around even if it's a small worry :D Thanks Julie!!! We love you!!!
